An eight-member Chilean parliamentary delegation led by Deputy Vlado Mirosevic Verdego, Liberal Party of Chile, called on Tibetan spiritual leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama at the latter’s residence on Tuesday.
The delegation led by Deputy Vlado Mirosevic Verdego comprises of Deputy Tomas Hrisch, Humanist Party of Chile, Deputy Alejandro Bernales, Liberal Party of Chile, Dario Ergas, Humanist Party of Chile and Party Ideologue, Fernando Salinas Manfredini, President of Amigos Del Tibet-Chile, Felix Milanes, Coordinator of Center for Experimental Education, Secular Ethics and Spanish Translator, Marta, Ani Tenzin Dolkar. The visit is being organised and facilitated by Representative Tsewang Phuntso, Office of Tibet, Latin America.
The head of delegation, Deputy Vlado Mirosevic of Liberal Party of Chile and Fernando Salinas, President of Amigos Del Tibet-Chile had previously visited the Central Tibetan Administration in December 2015.
Following the audience, the parliamentary delegation held a meeting with members of Kashag including Kalon Dr Pema Yangchen, Department of Education, Central Tibetan Administration. The delegation discussed Tibetan Education policy and implementation of Secular ethics curriculum in Tibetan schools particularly the Mewon Peton Tsuglag School. Next, the delegates met Speaker of Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile and Deputy Speaker Acharya Yeshi Phuntsok.
Earlier on Monday, Kashag of the Central Tibetan Administration hosted a dinner reception in honour of the visiting delegation. The reception was held at Kashag Secretariat.
Members of the Kashag including kalons of the CTA departments offered a warm welcome to the Chilean MPs. Officiating President, Kalon Karma Gelek Yuthok delivered the welcome remarks which was followed by an interactive meeting and dinner.
On 1 November, the Chilean delegation will visit Tibetan cultural institutions, NGOs and meet with members of civil society.
