His Holiness reaffirmed to live 113 years: senior Gelug leaders

The Tibetan leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama has reaffirmed to senior religious leaders that he would live till the age of 113, said a senior abbot representing the Gelug International Foundation yesterday at the Namgyal Monastery Library. The Gelug religious leaders had a private audience with the Dalai Lama on April 15.

The abbot of Gaden Shartse, Jangchup Choeden expressed to media , “His Holiness has reaffirmed to live till 113 years of age”. Jangchub recalled that the 81 year old Tibetan leader told the group of abbots representing various Gelug monasteries that he is physically in good health and that he has frequent dreams indicative of his living till the age of 113.

Members of the Gelug International Foundation led by the Gaden Tripa, the highest ranking figure in the Gelug sect along with 9 abbots and 2 assistant abbots held a meeting in Mcleod Ganj on April 14. The meeting resolved to offer His Holiness the Dalai Lama contribution for the untoward developments that has unravelled the past few months.

The meeting of the abbots resolved to effectively tender apologies to His Holiness the Dalai Lama and offer promises for remedial measures, pledge unity among the Tibetan people from diverse religious sects and different provinces.

They also urged the current Kashag and the Members of Parliament to push for measures to build unity and togetherness among the Tibetan polity on the basis of a 5 point letter drafted from the directives from former leaders of the Tibetan government in exile. The 5 point letter was drafted after a meeting with former Kalons, ministers and prominent figures held on April 11.
