His Holiness the Dalai Lama leaves for four-nation teaching tour, Sweden first stop

The Dalai Lama left Dharamsala for a four-nation European tour of Sweden, Netherlands, Germany and Switzerland from 12 – 23 September.

 

In Sweden, His Holiness will give a public talk on ‘The Art of Happiness and Peace’ in the morning of 12 September. 

In Netherlands, on 16 September, His Holiness will give a public talk on ‘Why Compassion is Essential in our Troubled World’. 

Next morning, His Holiness will give a teaching on Geshe Langri Thangpa’s Eight Verses of Mind Training (Tibetan: Lojong tsik gyema).

In Germany, on 19 September, His Holiness will participate in a conference on Non-Violence and Peace. The conference is being organised by Tibet Initiative Deutschland and Gaden Phodrang Foundation of the Dalai Lama at Congress Center Darmstadtium.

On 20 September, His Holiness will participate in a ‘Dialogue on Happiness and Responsibility’ with scientists from Heidelberg at Stadthalle Heidelberg, Germany.

In Switzerland, 21 September, His Holiness will participate in a religious ceremony celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Tibet Institute Rikon at Tibet Institute Rikon.

Next day, His Holiness will participate in an official function to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Tibet Institute Rikon at Eulachhalle Winterthur, Switzerland.

His Holiness will conclude his engagements in Switzerland on 23 September, by confering a teaching on Nagarjuna’s The Precious Garland of the Middle Way (Tibetan: uma rinchen trengwa), Kamalshila’s The Middling Stages of Meditation (Tibetan: gomrim barpa) & Gyalsey Thokme Sangpo’s Thirty-Seven Practices of a Bodhisattva’s Way of Life (Tibetan: laklen sodunma) at Zurich Hallenstadion.

The teachings are being organised by the Tibet Institute Rikon and the Tibetan Community of Switzerland & Liechtenstein.
